These terms explain the basic rules for using Nature by Name.
Who may use the service
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Only connect source accounts and make public claims that belong to you.
Learning and wildlife information
Nature by Name helps you practise recall. It is not professional, medical, safety, edibility, or definitive identification advice. Use an appropriate local authority before acting on a wildlife identification.
Public content
Usernames, projects, and observed-species claims are public. Do not publish illegal, abusive, deceptive, or rights-infringing content. People can report public content and source-account claims for review.
Media and sources
Photos, recordings, and records remain subject to their source licences and attribution requirements. You can report a rights or privacy concern.
Availability
Nature by Name can change features or stop operating. We will prioritize protecting learning records and providing a practical way to retrieve them.
