This page describes the current proof of concept. Its operator details and production retention policy must be completed before a public launch.
Your account
Better Auth stores your email, password hash, linked sign-in methods and sessions. Your account settings, raw imported observation records and detailed review history are available to your account. Optional sign-in providers receive the information required to sign you in when you choose them.
Community information
Your username, display name, biography, decks and community contributions can be viewed by other signed-in members. Your profile also shows observation and learning summaries, including your observed species collection and study streak. Public contributions display their attribution and licence.
Observations and location
Importing a public iNaturalist username reads publicly available records. CSV imports store matched species and observation summaries. Disconnecting iNaturalist or clearing CSV data removes those imported observation records; learning history remains separate. Browser location is used only after you request it, to suggest places. A selected browsing area can be saved in a cookie. Your account default place is stored in your profile.
Cookies, media and messages
Essential cookies maintain your sign-in session and browsing area. Loading external photos or audio makes a request to the media host. Optional Turnstile protection contacts Cloudflare when enabled. You can choose optional emails in Settings or unsubscribe from a message. Verification and password-reset messages are needed to manage your account. Development email is stored in a private local outbox.
Reports
Reporting an item hides it for your account and sends its details to moderators. Other people can still see it unless a moderator hides it for everyone. Moderation actions retain an audit record.
Do not upload sensitive personal information or private location details. Account deletion and the production retention process require an operator workflow before launch.
